K-9 Unit
The Plumas County Sheriff's K-9 program officially began in 1981. The first K-9 team was Deputy Bill Schroeder and K-9 Star. Since that first partnership, the department has had several K-9 teams.
Today there are two Plumas County K-9 teams, Sgt. Dean Canalia with his partner Brigand, and Deputy Chris Hendrickson and partner Dayne.
Brigand is trained to apprehend suspects, search for evidence and persons and provide handler protection.
