Investigation Team

 The Plumas County Sheriff's Office Investigations Unit is made up of five members. The Investigations Sergeant/Chief Deputy Coroner, and four Investigators. The unit also has a full time secretary assigned to it. The unit supplements patrol on serious crimes, as well as other cases which they request assistance. These crimes include, but are not limited to: homicide, sexual assault, child molestation, robbery and kidnapping.

The Investigations Unit is also the Drug Enforcement Unit for the county. There is an investigator who is specifically assigned to narcotics investigation. The remainder of the unit assists and handles narcotic investigations also. Narcotic investigations encompass surveillances, controlled buys, clandestine labs and search warrants.          

      Since Plumas County is a rural county with a great deal of U.S.F.S. land, the unit also handles air reconnaissance and marijuana eradication. Marijuana investigations encompass outdoor grows.

The investigations unit prepares and serves search warrants and arrest warrants. This is done with the assistance of patrol and the SWAT Team when needed. The unit also handles crime scene processing on serous cases. The investigations unit works with allied agencies on investigations which cross over into other areas. These agencies include neighboring counties (Lassen, Butte, Sierra, Tehama, And Yuba), state agencies (including the California Department of Justice), and neighboring states like Nevada where the unit works with Washoe County and Reno P.D.
