years of law enforcement experience, Sheriff Bergstrand began his career
as a police officer with the City of Westford, Massachusetts. From there
he moved to California, working four and a half years as a Deputy Sheriff for
the County of Los Angeles.
In 1979 he began working for the Plumas County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff and has worked a variety of assignments since that time. After serving the citizens of Plumas County as Undersheriff for four years, Terry was elected to Sheriff in March of 2002.
Undersheriff Mareina is a 36 year veteran of law enforcement, having worked 25 years with the Plumas County Sheriff's Office. Prior to his promotion to Undersheriff, Tom was the Administrative Sergeant for the department. Tom started his career working for the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department in 1969. He moved to Plumas County in 1979. His current duties include overseeing the correctional facility, supervising the investigations division and all matters related to personnel. As second in charge, Tom reports directly to the Sheriff.
Sergeant Michael Beatley has 24 years of experience in law enforcement, 22 with the Plumas County Sheriff's Office. Prior to becoming the Administrative Sergeant, Michael worked as a sergeant in patrol and was a member of the SWAT team for 17 years. As Administrative Sergeant Michael's duties include supervision of the Animal Shelter, as well as seeing to all aspects of personnel training, maintaining their POST requirements. He also conducts background investigations for employment. Michael reports directly to the Undersheriff and does other duties as directed.
